     After the slump in the previous year the total monies raised for the Cancer Research Campaign and for Cystic Fibrosis recovered and £22,000 was shared between them from this years event.
     For the third time running (and cycling, and canoeing) Maggie Creber led the women home, whilst Ian Duncan was the first home of the men for his third win in a record time of 5 hours and 2 minutes. Keeping up the sequence of third wins, the amazing Jimmy Smith managed to top his own sponsorship record by amassing a fantastic total of £5099!
