70 Wild Miles12th. June 2004 |
The sixteenth event was reportedly well up to expectations! Lovely weather and lovely competitors! But as I couldn't attend due to family problems, I'll let the Boss give the proper report:-70 Wild Miles 2004This
years event was run in reasonable conditions and the course record
was broken yet again! The female solo category was won by Maggie Creber in 5 hrs 43 mins 01 sec, incredibly, this was Maggies Fifth win! Not far behind Maggie in second place was last years winner Gill Irvine at 5 hrs 47 mins. Third in the womens race was Katy Boocock with 5 hrs 54 mins. The first relay team was Sarah Taylor, Hamish Barclay and Matthew Doolan, whose combined time was 5 hrs 28 mins. Regardless of who won, all competitors taking part achieved a great deal, just by completing this tough course! The help
that this event enjoys was there again, in what seemed like even greater
numbers than last year. There are far too many people to list here, but
you know who you are and we as organisers, are extremely fortunate that
you come year after year and do all that needs to be done. We cant
stress enough how grateful we are for your support. This event would be
impossible to manage without you! In many cases, helping out is tougher
than taking part! We have
set a date to forward all monies raised this year to representatives of
both charities we are supporting. Can all competitors please forward their
sponsorship money to the contact below as soon as possible. Our
very best regards Please
forward all sponsorship cheques as soon as possible, payable to: 70
