2005 £55,000 £55,000 has now been presented to CLIC Sargent as the result of everyone's hard work back in June. This brings the total amount raised by 70 Wild Miles since it started back in 1989, to £515,000. For all the thousands of people involved in making this happen over the years, we would like to thank you most sincerely for your time, energy and efforts. As it has just been announced at Cramond Boat Club in Edinburgh, we, the co-ordinators of the event for CLIC Sargent, have come to the end of the road in our present role with 70 Wild Miles. After 17 events, we are all feeling a bit burnt out! We feel it is time to let some of the younger helpers, who have grown up with the event, have a go. We must stress that 70 Wild Miles will continue as normal on 3rd June 2006, but possibly on a slightly smaller scale until the "new kids on the block" find their feet. It will also be continuing for the benefit of CLIC Sargent, who manage to do amazing things with the money 70 Wild Miles generates. CLIC Sargent provide support in helping young people and their families who have been unfortunate enough to have been touched by cancer, in any of its devastating forms. We very much hope that you will continue to provide your support to 70 Wild Miles and its fresh approach with the new co-ordinators. We will certainly still be helping out as best we can, by manning rescue boats, loading canoes, bikes, driving vans and doing all the many vitally important jobs, which make 70 Wild Miles such a unique event. So for the last time, many, many thanks for the part you have played in making our job a lot easier over the years. We genuinely believe in the help and support that CLIC Sargent can provide. Given your continued support through 70 Wild Miles, their work can provide huge comfort and support in what can be a brutal world. Very best regards :- Gordon D. Gooch, Raymond Brown, Brian T. Another
record breaking year for 2005!
Congratulations to James Block who made a fantastic effort to break the solo record for 70 Wild Miles in a time of 4 Hrs 39 Mins! Near perfect weather conditions made for a very enjoyable day for all. Details of everyone's results can be found by clicking the link below. Many, many thanks to all involved in making the day such a great success, there are far too many people to name individually, but you all know who you are! The support this event enjoys was there in even greater numbers than last year and this made everything so much safer and easier for everyone. Once again, many thanks to all the people involved in making the day run so smoothly. It most certainly could not have been done without your support and commitment Best wishes Brian, Ray, Gordon and John Event co-ordinators |

2004 Dear Competitor, Helper or Sponsor Yet another record breaking year for 70 Wild Miles Glencoe. £85,000 has now been presented jointly to Cancer Research UK and CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood). This amount has surprised everyone and certainly does justice to all the effort that you as a competitor, helper or sponsor have put into making this amount possible. A million thanks for the part you played in helping us achieve this. The money will go a long way in helping these very deserving charities with their vital work. There will be a slight change to 70 Wild Miles Glencoe 2005, set to take place on Saturday 11th June, CLIC will be handling all administration relating to this event. If you were a helper, we hope that nothing will change from your point of view and that you will be able to continue with your valued support. There would be no 70 Wild Miles without you, that's for sure. Since this all began in 1989 over £460,000 has been raised. We sincerely hope that the fundraising total will continue to grow on an upward trend, and with your continued support and commitment, there is every chance it will.
John, Gordon, Ray and Brian
